Police issued an AMBER Alert for a 4-year-old girl who was allegedly kidnapped by a man in Midvale Friday evening.
The victim was found shortly after the alert was issued, and it was subsequently canceled. Details were not immediately available; however, a woman told FOX 13 News at the scene that she found the child somewhere along a local road.
An AMBER Alert was issued Friday night after police say a child was abducted following a domestic violence stabbing in Salt Lake County.
According to the alert, the child was abducted in Midvale by someone who is not a family member.
Salt Lake County Sheriff Rosie Rivera said the aunt of 4-year-old Anabella Porto Carrero, the victim of Friday night’s AMBER Alert, called her ex-boyfriend and asked for a ride. He picked the two girls up, stabbed the aunt inside his car, then dragged her out of the car and left her in the road.
He then took off with the child.
The suspect was identified as Jonathan Moises Wuanloxten Hidalgo.
He is described as 5 feet 8 inches, 180 pounds, with black hair.
An AMBER Alert was issued
Shortly after it went out, Hidalgo’s car was found — either by the Utah Transit Authority or Utah Highway Patrol — near 3300 South and Interstate 15. Rivera said Hidalgo and the 4-year-old girl were not inside the vehicle.
Within minutes, someone called police and said they had the child, who was found near where the stabbing occurred. Hidalgo, however, has not been found.
“This is a very violent crime,” Rivera said.
Police have Hidalgo’s vehicle, so they do not know what vehicle he’s in or if he’s running.
“The best thing for him is to turn himself in because we’re going to find him,” Rivera said.
He is described as 5 feet 8 inches, 180 pounds, with black hair.
The victim was identified as 4-year-old Anabella Porto Carrero. She is described as 4 feet 5 and approximately 70 pounds, with brown hair and brown eyes. A description of her clothing was not immediately available.
Police say the suspect is driving a white 2014 Chevrolet Equinox with license plate G346SH.
“Somebody that would just stab someone, leave them in the streets, and then drop off a child in the near area in this weather, in the dark, we’ve got to find this guy. He needs to be caught.”
Rivera said the stabbing victim is 20 years old and in very critical condition.
So far, the child is OK, but police will have her examined to make sure.
