- Use for transporting local passengers and tourists throughout South Tyrol
Leinfelden-Echterdingen / South Tyrol – By February 2024, Daimler Buses delivered a total of 265 Setra and Mercedes-Benz buses to several private bus companies in South Tyrol, Italy. The contracts were concluded and the vehicles delivered via the Italian Daimler Buses sales company Daimler Buses Italia. The contractual partners include local South Tyrolean bus companies such as Auto Rainer GmbH from Ratschings, Pizzinini Bus & Mobility from Brixen and Silbernagl GmbH from Kastelruth. They provide transport services for the Alto Adige Mobilità (South Tyrol Mobil) transport association.
The new buses comprise 209 Setra S 415 LE, 47 Mercedes-Benz Intouro and nine Mercedes-Benz Citaro vehicles. The new buses will be used to transport both tourists and local passengers through the valleys of Aurina, Alta Badia and Vitipeno, Val Venosta and Val Pusteria, in short: throughout South Tyrol. The supply agreement with Daimler Buses underlines the commitment to collective mobility focused on comfort and social integration and, above all, makes one of the most beautiful tourist regions in Italy even more tourist-friendly, sustainable and environmentally friendly.
The 265 new intercity and city buses from Setra and Mercedes-Benz are painted in a bright and vivid green colour that is inspired by the design of Alto Adige Mobilità. They are powered by environmentally friendly Euro VI diesel engines. If the new buses were lined up in a row one behind the other, they would cover a route length of more than 3,500 metres and transport more than 24,000 passengers.
With a length of 12 metres, the 209 two-axle S 415 LE low-entry intercity buses from Setra feature 45 seats and 42 standing places. The barrier-free access at the front of the vehicle facilitates entry and exit. At the rear entrance which is equipped with a two-leaf outward-swinging door, there is also a manually operated folding ramp for passengers with limited mobility, parents with pushchairs and cyclists.
The 47 Mercedes-Benz Intouro intercity buses are equipped with a double-width centre door, 49 seats, 42 standing places and a wheelchair space. Paintwork, equipment, ticket sales as well as safety and surveillance technologies comply with the requirements and specifications stipulated by the Autonomous Province of Bolzano. In addition to the classic suburban regular-service operation as a shuttle, feeder or school bus, they can also be used for comfort-oriented one-day excursions and short trips.
These Intouro vehicles are joined by nine Mercedes-Benz Citaro solo and articulated buses with a length of 12 or 18 metres which are used to transport local passengers and tourists in city and intercity traffic in the Valle Aurina (Aurina/Ahrn Valley), Alta e Bassa Badia (Badia Valley) and Alta e Bassa Pusteria (Puster Valley) regions.
